Rocketts Landing Marina Approved!

The Commonwealth of Virginia Marine Resources Commission approved an 87 boat slip marina for the Rocketts Landing development just east of Downtown Richmond on the James River. The developer is targeting February as a completion date for the marina prior to the spawning and migrating of fish in the river. This will also allow for a grand opening in Spring in time for boaters to take full advantage of the warm weather boating season in 2009.  This marina will be private, however a 72 boat public marina is also in the works just up river, however it seems unlikely it could be completed in 2009 because bureaucratic issues between the Mayor’s office and Richmond City Council.

Rocketts Landing is a 45 acre mixed use development on the James River just east (3 minutes) of the downtown Richmond, Virginia. Plans for the development include 1500 residences, 1 1/2 miles of river frontage, retail and office space, pools, restaurants and a full service hotel.

In 2007 initial residents began moving in and homes are currently available. RichmondHomeShopper.com Buyer’s Agents are very knowledgable about the development and available to take you on a tour of homes on the market.
